PETALING JAYA: Malaysia’s women’s doubles department is seen as the weakest as none of the players have won any major tournaments in the last two years.

But Lee Meng Yean begs to differ.Meng Yean, who forms the national No. 1 partnership with Chow Mei Kuan, says the women’s doubles have the potential and they have had their good moments too.

The others in the team are Vivian Hoo, Yap Cheng Wen, Pearly Tan Koong Le, M. Thinaah, Yap Ling, Teo Mei Xing, Anna Cheong and Toh Ee Wei.“There are opinions that we are the weakest but I don’t accept it. Outsiders will always have their views but we’ll not let it affect us,” said Meng Yean. This year, the women’s team did well to qualify for the Uber Cup Finals from Oct 3-11 in Aarhus, Denmark, by virtue of finishing as one of the top four teams in the Asian qualifiers in Manila in February.
