MELAKA: Melaka has recorded a spike in dengue cases while grappling with the latest three positive Covid-19 cases.

State health and anti-drug committee chairman Rahmad Mariman said dengue cases in Melaka recorded an increase of 453 cases, or a 27.19% increase from 2,119 cases from Jan 1 to Sept 26 compared with 1,666 cases during the corresponding period in 2019.Hence, he said the state Health Department is working towards thwarting both diseases through various measures including setting up a special committee to ensure zero Covid-19 cases.

Rahmad added that a mass"gotong-royong" will be launched on Oct 3 as the state steps up efforts to stem the dengue outbreak.
