PETALING JAYA: A flight delay on Malaysia Airlines caused Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu to miss an appointment with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in London, Mohamad Sabu’s office said today.
A statement this evening said Mohamad had an important appointment to meet Mahathir in London on June 16. However, Malaysia Airlines flight MH0002 from Kuala Lumpur departed about two hours and 30 minutes late on the night of June 15. “The appointment that should have happened on the morning of June 16 failed to take place,” the statement said.
It said the minister was to make a stopover in London just to meet with the Prime Minister on his way to an official visit to France. Mahathir was on a three-day working visit to Britain from June 15-17, during which he addressed the Cambridge Union at Cambridge University.
