A team of seven firemen from Bomba Lawas station was dispatched to the scene after a house in the village caught fire at about 3.18pm on Saturday . Footage captured by a firemen's video camera attached to his helmet shows the suspect attacking the fireman from behind and before he was stopped by other villagers.
The fireman made a police report at 9.14pm the same day but withdrew it after the suspect apologised. Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said they decided to take stern action against the suspect after receiving advice from higher-ups.
