Malaysia wins both men and women's team title at Asian Team Squash Championship

PETALING JAYA: There was double joy for Malaysia as the men's and women's teams turned the tables on their top seeded rivals in the Asian Team Squash Championships in Bukit Jalil .

Rachel Arnold did not face any problem beating Liu Tsz Ying 11-6, 8-11, 11-7, 11-2 to hand Malaysia the first point in the women's final.Hong Kong kept the fight going when Tong Tsz Wing beat Noor Ainaa Amani Ampandi 11-8, 6-11, 6-11, 11-9.However, Aifa did not give her opponent Ho Tze Lok a chance to step into the game as she brushed aside her rival 11-4, 11-3, 11-6 in just 21 minutes to secure victory for Malaysia.

The women's team last won the title back in 2016. This is also the 10th triumph for Malaysia in the women's team competition.The men's team were not to be outdone either as they conquered fancied India 2-1 in the evening.National No. 1 Ng Eain Yow upset the newly crowned Malaysian Open champion Saurav Ghosal 12-10, 11-4, 11-8 for the first point.

India stayed alive after Mahesh Mangaonkar beat Mohd Syafiq Kamal 11-9, 11-7, 11-8 but Ivan Yuen turned hero after overpowering Ramit Tandon 11-8, 8-11, 11-3, 11-1.Malaysia have not won the men's team title since 2008.
