Malaysia’s award-winning Timah whiskey clarifies name confusion

Although Timah has been around for quite a while, it became a topic of conversation on social media for using a seemingly Malay word after its official launch on Facebook on October 7. – Facebook pic, October 16, 2021.

TIMAH – the only award-winning whiskey in Malaysia – has courted controversy, after Muslims accused the brand of trying to cause confusion and mislead the people with its seemingly Malay name., saying that “Timah is a local word meaning ‘tin’”.
