has redesignated Lee Chun Fai, 52, as group CEO and managing director effective April 1. 2023. Lee succeeds Liew Hau Seng, 57, who retires effective March 31, 2023.

Lee has been with IJM for the past 27 years and held the role of deputy CEO and deputy MD at the construction and property group since April 2015. “Lee’s appointment is the result of a robust succession planning process through which we expect a seamless transition. Lee is a seasoned executive with strong leadership qualities and a proven track record during his career at IJM, including overseeing the group’s growth strategies,” Tan Sri Krishnan Tan, IJM’s chairman said yesterday.

Outgoing Liew spent 34 years at IJM, and took over the helm of the group in August 2019. Prior to that, he held various leadership roles in the group including as project director, operations director and managing director of the group’s construction division“It has been a privilege to serve as IJM’s Group CEO and MD and I am grateful for the many opportunities and experiences I have had throughout my career.

“I wish to congratulate Lee on his appointment and I am confident the IJM team with Lee at the helm will take the company to greater heights,” Liew stated.
