Kuantan Road market ordered closed after nine Covid-19 cases found

"Sanitisation and disinfection work will be carried out and we urge traders to abide by the closure notice. On Wednesday , it was reported that two public markets – Cecil Street and Chowrasta – were ordered closed after their traders and stall assistants tested positive for Covid-19. Ten Covid-19 cases were detected at the Chowrasta Market while eight were detected at the Cecil Street Market. Since March last year, several public markets including those at Taman Free School, Batu Maung, Perak Road, Batu Lanchang, Padang Tembak, Bayan Baru, Bandar Baru Ayer Itam and Jelutong on the island were temporarily closed for disinfection following the detection of Covid-19 cases.

On the mainland, the markets in Penaga, Bagan Ajam, Chai Leng Park, Taman Sri Rambai, Kampung Baru, Permatang Tinggi, Taman Bagan, Seberang Jaya, Kepala Batas, Machang Bubok and Bukit Mertajam were also closed after Covid-19 cases were found there.
