Kuala Lumpur has taken the crown from Penang as the top destination for Malaysians during Chinese New Year in 2022, according to booking data from a digital travel platform.

It's a trend that was evident throughout other countries in Asia such as China, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines. The travel platform also revealed that Malaysians seek out four- and five-star hotels during their CNY holidays. Meanwhile, PLUS Malaysia Berhad has urged highway users to follow the travel time advisory to avoid congestion during the CNY festive period from Jan 28 to Feb 6.
