Khairul Hafiz clocked 10.71s which is much slower than the qualifying time of 10.37s.
The time was also a far cry from his national record of 10.18s set at the 2016 Sarawak Malaysian Games. “I will not feel good about representing the country if my performance does not improve. I know the physical difference when I ran after recovering from an injury as compared to the time when I achieved 10.18s.
At the last SEA Games, Khairul Hafiz won gold with a time of 10.38s at the National Stadium, beating defending champion, Eric Shauwn Cray of the Philippines and Kritsada Namsuwan of Thailand who both recorded 10.43s. ‘’Currently, Jonathan Nyepa has passed the qualifying conditions, namely, the top three positions in South East Asia. Khairul has just recovered from an injury, maybe in a month or more, he can dip below 10.50s.
