THE payment of RM100 million a year is a reasonable compensation to the Kedah state government to maintain its forest reserves as water catchment areas, Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said. He said the value took into account losses due to the reduction of forest products as well as the cost of maintaining resources and streams to ensure forest and environmental sustainability.
