PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir's proposal to form a non-partisan government can be seen as his final attempt to fulfil his aspirations to save Malaysia, says Datuk A. Kadir Jasin.

He said the interim Prime Minister's actions were consistent with his 2016"Save Malaysia" campaign, which marked his return to active politics after retiring in 2003."All he wanted was to govern effectively in peace without any political interference," he said, adding that Dr Mahathir's proposal would make Malaysia more democratic as the government would be scrutinised by everyone.

However, on Feb 23, he said Dr Mahathir's wish dissipated when a majority of Bersatu party members pressured him to pull the party out of Pakatan Harapan and merge with Umno and PAS. "He pleaded with party members to give him a chance and not force him to break his promise to pass the leadership baton to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," he said.

He said political volatility pushed Dr Mahathir to opt for a non-partisan government in which the Cabinet members would be appointed based on expertise and ethical considerations, and not party allegiance.

Rule of geriatric alzheimers continues! Mahathir Daim Taib Wake up Young people Or They take you To their graves Soon

To all the politicians. Can you all please set aside your personal aspirations and place the interest of the nation first. A non-partisan govt. is the only way. The alternative is a partisan govt, which we all know is going to further deepen divisions.

Has brought Malaysia down. Realised he has screwed up big time. Committed an unexpected blunder. Will regret for the rest of the little life left in him. In desperation , now trying to save HIMSELF, not Malaysia.

Saya terhutang budi dan berterima kasih kepada keluarga anwaribrahim kerana sanggup membelakangkan apa yg telah berlaku pada masa lalu, untuk menyelamatkan Malaysia. Perjuangan rakyat fokus utama kami berdua.

Shouldn't Malaysian be better than failed African? Well,..... Never too late to discover. Ozymandias.

Bs. Could've saved the country rm40+b of losses in Bursa, a whole week and counting of political instability, loss of productivity, disruption etc. By. Just. Passing. On. To. Anwar. No, attempt Langkah Sheraton, cut a deal with the kleptocrats is 'saving' the country. Sure.

Just go for fresh election. No point pusing and lompat. Let’s see what and how rakyat vote.

To save Malaysia or to save himself? Enough is enough. Please just go away!

Shut up Kadir Jasin. Are you afraid of losing your position?

Funny way to save the country.

I used to respect your views and character, but this last assertion is just too much for me (and I suspect, most people) to swallow. Let it rest. Tun is a liability to Malaysia.

Saving skin, maybe, Malaysia, not so much.

We were doing fine a week ago and didn't even know that we needed 'saving'.
