Dalam kejadian 11.28 pagi, enjin bot yang dinaiki Ahmad Firdaus Muhammad, 24, dari Jeli, Kelantan dilaporkan rosak, menyebabkan mangsa bersama seorang lagi rakan setugasnya bertindak terjun daripada bot berkenaan, untuk menundanya ke tebing sungai.
“Saya dimaklumkan ketika kejadian, Aus berjaya berdiri di atas sebuah batu di tengah sungai itu, tetapi dia kemudian dihanyutkan arus deras, selepas terjun sekali lagi untuk berenang ke tebing sungai,” katanya ketika ditemui Bernama di lokasi kejadian, petang hari ini. Sementara itu, Ketua Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Bukit Jalil Jalaluddin Abd Mubin berkata, seramai 20 anggota serta dua jentera dari Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Bukit Jalil serta Sri Petaling bersama Pasukan Penyelamat Di Air bergegas ke lokasi kejadian sebaik menerima laporan.
