The decision to choose Sng was made by delegates from 12 PBM divisions at the party’s extraordinary general meeting held in a hotel in Sibu, Sarawak on Saturday , reported Sinar Harian.

The motion was approved by the new party leadership, and further discussions will be held with Barisan’s top leadership soon. “To top it off, Barisan is proven to have stable party leadership and is deemed the most experienced coalition in managing the country, making our decision to be part of it as the right strategy,” Sng said in the report."We have 40,000 members throughout the country. We are receiving new membership applications every day. About 3,000 members of Penggerak Komuniti Negara are also interested to join us," he added.

The vice-presidents are Tebrau MP Steven Choong and Buntong assemblyman A. Sivasubramaniam, while former Selangor executive councilor Dr Daroyah Alwi was appointed as PBM Wanita chief.Sng, when contacted by Sinar Harian, said the EGM and party appointments were conducted based on a directive from the Registrar of Societies, after PBM’s first EGM held on Nov 14 was deemed incomplete.
