PETALING JAYA: Masyarakat India tidak perlu lagi bergantung kepada ahli Parlimen dan menteri daripada etnik mereka untuk memajukan kepentingan politik dan ekonomi di era Malaysia baru, kata pemimpin Hindraf.
Kengadharan berkata demikian sebagai maklum balas kepada gesaan pemimpin Hindraf 2.0, P Uthayakumar supaya Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya mewujudkan 7 kerusi Parlimen majoriti India untuk memastikan masyarakat itu mempunyai suara yang kuat di Parlimen. Hindraf 2.0 adalah organisasi yang berbeza daripada Hindraf, yang diketuai Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri P Waytha Moorthy.
“Di Malaysia, kita perlu bekerjasama dengan kerangka politik yang mantap. Sejak 1952, Umno berkongsi kuasa dengan MIC dan MCA tetapi ia kemudiannya menjadi hubungan tuan dan pengikut,” katanya.
