Jais issues new rules for Friday prayers

Jais director Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad says following consent given by Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, a total of 427 mosques and 316 surau will be allowed the full use of the main prayer area and other available spaces to conduct Friday prayers. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, January 18, 2022.

THE Selangor Islamic Religious Department has allowed the full use of the main prayer area and other available spaces in all mosques and surau to conduct Friday prayers, following the consent of the sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. Its director, Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, said that the ruler also consented to the space between congregants to be set at 1m apart.
