“Not only did they not fulfil their manifesto, but sadly, there have been attempts to breach the sanctity of Islam here openly,” he claimed. He was ostensibly commenting on several non-Muslim lawmakers distributing tithe to recipients in Penang, which Penang Mufti Datuk Seri Wan Salim Wan Mohd Noor has since clarified as permissible under Islam.
“This can be seen through the attempts to ratify the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and the Rome Statute [of the International Criminal Court] that eventually provide space for international intervention in our nation’s affairs,” he claimed.
Reflecting on PAS’ history, he said it can be argued the party has been the most dynamic and courageous when it comes to making decisions based on principles since it has worked with several parties that it opposed.
