In rare rebuke, Johor Ruler urges Putrajaya to drop appeal against automatic citizenship for children born abroad

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 18 — Sultan Ibrahim today urged the Federal Government not to appeal the recent High Court ruling that recognises citizenship rights to children born abroad regardless if the Malaysian parent is the father or mother.

“The sanctity of the court must be upheld. Why discriminate against Malaysian mothers with overseas-born children? This is a basic right of every child, irrespective of whether the Malaysian parent is the father or the mother,” he stressed in a statement to the Royal Press Office. The Attorney General’s Chambers said this week it would appeal against a landmark court ruling that Malaysian mothers whose children are born abroad should be granted automatic Malaysian citizenship.

Semua benda Johor komen bermula dari vaksin, padang bola. Now MM2H...after this what Harga ayam

*cough* foreigner son-in-law *cough*

Our princes were all born and lived abroad and can’t speak Malay well anyways. WTF with these double standards?

Meanwhile Putrajaya ignores the more pressing matters of the country to entertain their little pathetic ego. Mampus Malaysia.

Correction. It's not a rare rebuke. Just a few days ago, the Sultan also asked to look into MM2H issue. Many times the Johore Sultan have voiced his opinion or displeasure on issues affecting the rakyat, especially Johoreans. Lucky Johoreans.
