KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — The High Court in Kota Baru yesterday dismissed a lawsuit by a Muslim teachers group I-Guru that sought to declare vernacular schools in Malaysia unconstitutional., judge Roslan Abu Bakar said that while vernacular schools could be considered public authorities, the constitutional requirement for these to use Bahasa Melayu must not be taken in isolation.
The suit brought by the Federation of Peninsular Malay Students, the Islamic Education Development Council, and the Confederation of Malaysian Writers Association is now pending appeal at the Court of Appeal. “And therefore, the Federal Constitution actually recognises vernacular schools and guarantees the use of mother tongue,” Gunaseelan said.
Waste of court's time !!!!
Maybe then, but a reclusive social system now & the future. Perhaps, a flawed opinion. Regressive historical facts isn't always the way forward.
The vocabulary of the Malay language is inadequate to express myriad situations.
3.10pm KB High Court disagreed with justice Nazlan's judgment that schools aren't 'public authority'. Justice Abazafree ruled that schools are infact public authority. However the court added -that 'history' shows that vernacular schools are OK in Malaysia😊 AppealPending
