JOHOR BARU : A Malaysian Pineapple Industry Board assistant economic affairs officer has claimed trial to four charges of falsifying documents in relation to pineapple seed orders amounting to RM41,025.

He was accused of deceiving the board through the order document for the supply of pineapple seeds which contained false information, where the seeds were not supplied as claimed.He was accused of committing the offence between April and December 2015 at the board's Pontian office.

He was charged under Section 18 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009 and if convicted, could face a maximum of 20 years in jail and a fine not less than RM10,000 or five times the amount of the bribe.The case was handled by MACC Deputy Public Prosecutor Ikhwan Ihsan Jalaludin while the accused was represented by lawyer Mohd Salleh Togimin.

Judge Ahmad Kamal set bail at RM8,000 with one surety and set additional conditions for the accused to surrender his passport to the court.The case was fixed for mention on Aug 25. Read more: The Star »
