Ireland is due to launch a major cycling plan this year to develop a vast network of cycle paths for both towns and villages. This plan includes the development of local bicycle networks as well as the construction of new greenways, reserved for non-motorised vehicles, throughout the country. In the Dublin region alone, no less than 500km of new cycle and walking paths are expected to be opened in the next few years.For example, fines will be increased for drivers who park on sidewalks, bus lanes or bike paths. In general, the authorities want to encourage all road users to show more respect to one another. – AFP
