PETALING JAYA: It was a double joy for Hoo siblings Vivian and Pang Ron as both have qualified for this year’s World Championships from Aug 21-28 in Tokyo.Vivian will play in the women’s doubles with Lim Chiew Sien while Pang Ron made the cut for the mixed doubles with Cheah Yee See.
Vivian qualified on merit for last year’s world meet in Huelva, Spain, with previous partner Yap Cheng Wen but she could not play. She was an independent player then while Cheng Wen was still with the Badminton Association of Malaysia with another partner. Pang Ron and Yee See reached the third round in Huelva last year before losing to Germany’s Mark Lamsfuss-Isabel Lohau.“I want to break into the top 16 with Chiew Sien by the end of this year,” said a determined Vivian. The duo are currently ranked 36 in the world.
The duo will be out to get a timely boost before the world meet at the Indonesian Masters starting today in Jakarta.
