PETALING JAYA: Nurses around the globe are being honoured for their dedication and sacrifice on Wednesday (May 12) as the world celebrates International Nurses Day.

In 1974, May 12 was chosen as the day to celebrate nurses as it was the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing.

This year, ICN commemorates the day with the production and distribution of resources themed"Nurses: A Voice to Lead – A Vision for Future Healthcare".Through this campaign, ICN aims to show the future of nursing and how the profession will transform the next stage of healthcare. Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also extended his warm wishes to nurses as he thanked them for their contributions to society."May all of you be protected and blessed," he said in a Facebook post.
