The alleged sale of personal details of 22.5 million Malaysians that went viral on social media was not from the National Registration Department , said Home Minister Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.“As in previous cases, the sale of data involves several agencies which we have given some leeway to obtain information from the department,” he told reporters at the Home Ministry’s open house today.
“All individuals involved in the sale of personal data will be called in to assist in the investigation and the findings would be announced soon,” he said.
Data leak of 22 million Malaysians and the standard response is 1. It's not our fault and 2. SOP will be reviewed. Any sense urgency or fear of citizens data being manipulated for the wrong reasons? None.
It IS a breach from this GOVERNMENT’s data base. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. ACT to make cybersecurity and accountability a priority for this shameless GOVT. CHANGE THE LAW that exempts Federal Govt from responsibility.

Telcos distribute clients and former clients details far and wide. It is the Ministry’s duty to ensure the safety if these data. Time for Ministers and govt administrators to accept accountability and willing to be sued by the public.
