ALOR SETAR: Kedah recorded a 24.4% drop in hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) cases during the 24th epidemiology week (ME24) from June 12 to 18.

State health and local government committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Hayati Othman said during that week, 531 new cases of HFMD were recorded compared with 702 cases the previous week.

"Kuala Muda district recorded the highest number of cases with 1,337 followed by Kulim , Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar . However, all the reported cases showed mild symptoms,” he said in a statement Wednesday .
