PUTRAJAYA: A large number of new Covid-19 clusters recorded during Epidemiological Week 23 were related to workplaces, says Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.

Health authorities recorded 107 clusters from workplaces, 32 community clusters, six from high-risk groups and three each related to education, religion and detention centres.

An epidemiological week is a standardised method of counting weeks to allow for the comparison of data year after year. “During the nationwide lockdown from June 1 to 14, a total of 287 localities had been placed under enhanced movement control order following a spike in the number of cases with a high infectivity rate, ” he said on Monday .

For Epi Week 23, a total of 553 deaths were recorded, where the average number of deaths was 79 a day.
