GEORGE TOWN: The haze situation has worsened in the state with the Air Pollution Index (API) recording unhealthy levels in two areas on the island over the course of Friday (Sept 13).

According to the Department of Environment , Balik Pulau and Minden had API readings of 137 and 107 respectively at noon.Seberang Jaya and Seberang Prai had moderate API level at 92 and 88 respectively, but this was expected rise.

An API reading of between 0 and 50 is good, while 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and 301 and above hazardous.
