A steady stream of customers — ranging from volunteers of non-governmental organisations to houseowners — were seen buying cleaning equipment at ASL Engineering Hardware Sdn Bhd along Jalan Dermawan 25/89.Hardware shop owner Lee Han Shyang, 39, said they were not spared by the weekend’s floods as water rose to about 1.83m at the shop.
“We started cleaning the shop on Wednesday, but it rained again, so we stopped and continued on Thursday.“We too suffered heavy losses and tried to salvage as much as we could.Lee added that they ran out of stock for some items.Electrical items like cutting machines were seen left to dry on the roadside.“Our rented double-storey house is just opposite this shop so we came here as it is convenient,” he said.
Another hardware shop along Jalan Kamuning Prima E33/E also saw customers looking for cleaning equipment like water hoses and pails.
