Nazir dalam kenyataan hari ini berkata, penyaluran ‘dana misteri’ ke akaun peribadinya pada 2013 itu pada mulanya dikatakan diperoleh daripada sumbangan politik yang sahih dan bertujuan bagi menampung perbelanjaan kempen Pilihan Raya Umum Ke-13 .
“Saya dimaklumkan ketika itu peruntukan terbabit ialah daripada sumber dana politik sahih, justeru saya tidak mempunyai sebab untuk rasa curiga dengan memikirkan perkara sebaliknya,” katanya. Sebelum ini, Ketua Pesuruhjaya SPRM, Latheefa Koya mendedahkan Mohamed Nazir adalah antara 80 individu dan entiti yang akan menerima notis kompaun kerana dipercayai menerima dana daripada 1MDB.
