GEORGE TOWN: Former finance minister Lim Guan Eng's wife Betty Chew was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here on Friday (Aug 7).

"MACC arrested Chew after I accompanied her to have her statement taken," said Chew's lawyer, Lee Khai.

Chew was seen entering the MACC office at Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, accompanied by Lim's sister and state DAP secretary Senator Lim Hui Ying at 10.45am.Chew is expected to be charged with businesswoman Phang Li Koon at the MACC court in Butterworth next week. An online portal reported that Phang, who was charged with Lim over graft allegations in 2016, was called in for questioning last night and detained.
