KUALA LUMPUR: The Defence Ministry plans to revive the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) to instil patriotism among youths.

said the proposal to revive the programme would be presented to the Cabinet soon."However, based on the benefits of this programme on instilling patriotism among youths, the ministry will propose its reimplementation to the Cabinet," he said in his winding-up speech on Budget 2021 on Tuesday .

Ismail Sabri also said the Public Services Department had offered “soft landing” contracts to 1,394 former National Service Training Department officers. He said the officers were placed in various agencies and ministries for the period of one year beginning 2019. “These appointments were to give officers a means to support themselves before finding a new job, ” he added.

PLKN was introduced in 2004. When it was shelved, the Pakatan government replaced it with a youth leadership programme.

No need

Old ministers, old ideas, no country for young men.

Support this 100% - but let's do it when there are smarter people in leadership.. yes or no?

Mse covid2 ni?... Tg dulu pon waste money and time. Baik guna utk buat latihan semi kerja utk oara graduate... Failure again and again

Stop this blardy nonsense.

Just use budget for Jasa no interfere others

DON’T

This is just a way to help cronies with multi million contracts to supply clothes, food etc

There is a time for everything but now isn’t the time to bring up PLKN unless someone, somewhere stands to make a quick buck? just saying..

Duit dah lah tak cukup nak tampung bermacam-macam keperluan pemuligan covid, ini nak buat projek riak nak apa?

If u r still part of the govt after Thursday... And if ur colleagues r well trained too... Jgn patriotism sini, sana buat hal double standard... Hehe

Waste of time

They intend to revive probably because they want to train the youngsters to be more disciplined enough to abide to laws to decrease number of covid in the future. But hey, it's just theory. Don't hate me ok

Crony out to make money

Do it like Singapore where it is actual “National Service” - deploying them for Police, Army & Bomba - and not a summer camp

It's good that it create jobs for government servants, but does it really instill patriotism? There should be a better way.

This is not the time!

Shld see what are priorities under current circumstances? Gov't funds limited, school can't start, exam can't held.. Really not understand what in his head?

Dari segi baget dan demographic, tak payal lah.

Why want to waste money

Direct nego or open tender?

Any VVIPs project

Budak² yang x dok rumah saja tu blh pi training, dpt ilmu sikit. Dpt elaun jugak.
