Govt mulls roping in English grads to become teachers

More than 1,500 primary schools in the country lack an English language teacher and the Education Ministry must find ways to solve the ‘national crisis’. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Irwan Majid, May 16, 2019.

GRADUATES from private universities will be roped in to overcome the shortage of English language teachers in the public school system, said Education Minister Maszlee Malik. The government will “try to invite them” to join the public service, Maszlee said, but admitted that the move is only a temporary solution to the problem.
