KUALA LUMPUR: The government is boosting efforts to promote domestic tourism to offset the impact of declining international tourist arrivals to Malaysia due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Mohamaddin Ketapi said with the coronavirus infection creating concerns among prospective tourists, the government was implementing"quick win" strategies to bolster the tourism industry.

"With domestic tourists, we can invigorate the tourism industry in our country," he said in his speech at the launch of the MYexperience booklet at the World Trade Centre near here on Thursday . Mohammadin Ketapi said one of the"quick win" strategies to aggressively promote domestic tourism was the compilation of a MYexperience booklet by Tourism Malaysia, which showcases some 500 niche travel packages provided by 109 industry players.
