The prime minister says the Malays should also look for jobs themselves, with training and business opportunities provided by the government.
Acknowledging that the majority of civil servants are Malays, the prime minister said this was why Putrajaya is encouraging them to find jobs on their own.
He was responding to Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) who asked if the government would consider absorbing some 50,000 contract workers into the civil service.
However, he said this would mean fewer vacancies in the civil service.
He also assured that the proposed contract scheme to replace the permanent and pensionable establishment in public services would only cover new appointments.Read more: Free Malaysia Today
