PUTRAJAYA: A total of RM50mil has been allocated to 32 local authorities which areas were affected by floods to undertake repair works as well as construction of new houses, says the Prime Minister.

Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this was on top of another RM50mil that was allocated for post-floods repair works on infrastructure, public amenities, socio-economy and safety.

He said the Housing and Local Government Ministry gave an update on post-floods cleaning-up exercises in five states where it has reached 100% in Kuala Lumpur.It is estimated that 53,800 tonnes of flood wastes had been managed so far. On another matter, the Prime Minister said that repair works on 895 disaster locations would cost the government RM967.2mil.

"These locations involve floods, flash floods, landslide areas, damaged roads and bridges," he said on Monday after chairing the special task force on post north-east monsoon floods. Ismail Sabri said clean-ups at 802 locations had been carried out and repair works are expected to start this month, adding that it will be completed in six months.
