PETALING JAYA: Losses caused by the floods that hit several states in December are estimated to be between RM5.3bil and RM6.5bil, says Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

The Minister in the Prime Minister's Department said damage caused to buildings - especially houses - amounted to the most, with estimated losses of between RM1.2bil to RM1.4bil.

"The government, through the Statistics Department , has taken the initiative to prepare a comprehensive flood impact study for all affected states," Malay-language portal Sinar Harian reported Mustapa as saying on Monday . He was speaking at the launch of the Household Income Expenditure and Basic Amenities Survey 2022 involving 92,000 households that will be conducted by DOSM from January to December.
