The state Civil Defence Force said 1,179 people were sheltering at 12 flood relief centres in Kuching as of noon Thursday .
Another 11 centres have been opened in Bau district for the flood-hit areas of Kampung Bogag, Kampung Jugan, Kampung Barieng, Kampung Tringgus, Kampung Pangkalan Melayu, Kampung Segong, Kampung Tanjong Batu and Kampung Buso. State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian reminded flood evacuees to observe Covid-19 standard operating procedures at relief centres to prevent the possibility of new clusters.
