JOHOR BARU: Johor has seen the number of flood victims in the state decline significantly by 6,273, bringing the total number of victims from 49,543 people as of noon to 43,270 at 4pm on Monday (March 6).

The state disaster management committee said the evacuees were currently taking shelter at 226 temporary relief centres in nine districts on Monday .

Batu Pahat has the highest number of victims with 21,164 people, followed by Segamat , Muar , Kluang and Tangkak ."Rivers in Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang and Kota Tinggi remained at dangerous levels," said the statement. Roads in Kluang inaccessible to all vehicles were Jalan Lingkaran Kahang Barat at FTPSB workers’ hostel, Jalan GSA Chamek at GSA Chamek bridge, and Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang at Ulu Penggeli bridge and Jalan Kota Tinggi-Kluang at Taman Sri Impian/Kopketa traffic light junction.
