KUALA LUMPUR: Firecrackers were thrown at policemen who told a group of people who were playing with fireworks to disperse in Sentul here. Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said police received information there were about people lighting firecrackers at the car park of the Sri Perak apartment complex in Bandar Baru Sentul around 12.50am on Thursday .
"When police arrived, they found about 200 people, believed to be apartment residents, lighting fireworks.ACP Beh said police told the group to stop but the warnings were ignored and a loud explosion was heard as police told the crowd to disperse.The crowd dispersed immediately after the explosion.The case is being investigated for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code and for letting off fireworks under Section 3 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
