Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Beh Eng Lai said police received information there were about people lighting firecrackers at the car park of the Sri Perak apartment complex in Bandar Baru Sentul around 12.50am on Thursday (May 13)."When police arrived, they found about 200 people, believed to be apartment residents, lighting fireworks.

"The situation turned chaotic when they noticed that the police had arrived," he said.ACP Beh said police told the group to stop but the warnings were ignored and a loud explosion was heard as police told the crowd to disperse.He said the explosion is believed to have come from a lit firecracker that was thrown at the police. headtopics.com

The crowd dispersed immediately after the explosion."No injuries were reported and police managed to bring the situation under control," he said.The case is being investigated for criminal intimidation under Section 506 of the Penal Code and for letting off fireworks under Section 3 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
