IPOH: A coalition of farmers are urging Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu to make changes to the state land regulations in order to safeguard the interests of small-scale farmers, and the Orang Asli community.

“The Mentri Besar has the authority to change the land regulations, and thus we are urging him to have a clause to set up a committee.The committee must consist of representatives from the Land Office, State Secretariat, opposition party and orang Asli. Dr Jeyakumar was speaking to reporters after handing over a memorandum over the matter to Faizal’s special officer, Mohd Jaffrey Mohd Zainol outside the state secretariat building.

Dr Jeyakumar said at the moment when eviction notices are given and the matter is brought to court, the victory always goes to the landowner with 100% equity of the land.
