GEORGE TOWN: Former Penang Gerakan chairman Teng Chang Yeow, who was a three-term assemblyman, has resigned from the party.

National Gerakan secretary-general Mak Kah Keong confirmed that Teng, 57, handed in his resignation two months ago.

"I can't confirm the exact date, but when it was sent to us, we told him to reconsider but to no avail.”Teng became a municipal councillor at the age of 28 before becoming a three-term assemblyman from 1995 to 2008.He quit as state chairman after losing in the last general election where he stood in the Tanjung Bungah state constituency."It is definitely a loss, as he groomed most of the young leaders today, including myself," added Oh.
