Employers allowed to rehire foreign workers, says Saravanan

Human Resources Minister M. Saravanan says employers are advised to ensure that the foreign workers they hire have undergone Covid-19 screening. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, August 13, 2020.

THE Human Resources Ministry is giving employers the flexibility to hire foreign workers who have been laid off by previous employers if they do not get any response from local workers. Its minister, M. Saravanan, however, said the ministry is urging employers to give priority to locals to fill these job vacancies.
