KUALA LUMPUR: A suspect, believed to be trafficking drugs, managed to escape despite police trying to shoot out his tyres here Monday (July 20).

"We received information about drug distribution and trailed a white Toyota Yaris driven by a man from Taman Tun Dr Ismail to Jinjang.

A seven-second video has been making its rounds on social media and WhatsApp showing what looks to be plainclothes policemen confronting the driver before he sped off. He added that a police officer darted toward the vehicle and shouted"police" and showed his authority card. "They were forced to fire two shots in the direction of the vehicle's rear tires in self defence," he said, adding that this was also done to cripple the vehicle but the suspect managed to flee the scene.
