Infectious diseases expert Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman said Malaysians cannot expect zero cases of Covid-19.
Instead, vaccines should be seen for their benefits in reducing the transmission of the deadly disease, said Adeeba, who was newly inducted to the science council of the World Health Organization. Adeeba said she had always regarded vaccines as a means to reduce cases of severe hospitalisation and death. “That’s how the trial was designed, and it’s doing what it has promised to do,” she said.
DrRamliZainal Well said Prof ProfAdeeba !! COVID vaccine can definitely help reduce severity of illness !! We just read of journalists, already infected.. but thankful coz they were vaccinated & hence did not get severe Sx..
Tak paham, so please explain how you want to contribute Dr. Walk the talk
ProfAdeeba DGHisham Khairykj Malaysia's herd immunity will be half-baked with half efficacy if majority of vaccines are China-made.
Trying to cover your highly educated Oxford ,who was too slow in getting the vaccine across , that mysasjahtera was delaying , it was worst then Indonesia ,where you can walk in practically any place to get your vaccine done without much red tape .
She's speaking sense. There no menang against this. The same as we can't menang against the flu. So zero cases won't b possible. But def everyone shld get vaccinated to REDUCE the impact. Make it compulsory. The govt may as well b honest with people. Covid won't b irradiated.
With all respect, ProfAdeeba are you saying that vaccination is not targeting enough at risk people and that we are focusing too much at the number of positive case indicator?
My apology. With due respect, I disagree with you Prof Adeeba ProfAdeeba . Just because the gov is very slow in this vaccination process does not mean we should now forget about targeting herd immnunity. European countries are doing well at this. Euro 2020 as an example. 🙏🙏🙏
PN gomen & menteli2 mana nak dengar pandangan experts sebab mereka EQ & IQ sangat rendah
Help ourself and help all. Every Malaysian must be vaccinated. Let's do this, regardless of the target set. Only then, everyone is safe. We then CAN get back to the life we so cherish.
“However, the use of Covid-19 vaccines had resulted in reducing the transmission of the virus. “That should really be the goal now, and we shouldn’t get too caught up with achieving herd immunity unless we are able to vaccinate every single person,” she said…
It is OK to talk about Herd Immunity as it is related to targeted vaccination percentages that must be achieved. It is interrelated with vaccination. By now most of us as layman are already familiar with why vaccination and Herd Immunity. There is no confusion. We know what it is
But ProfAdeeba isn't that a chicken/egg, and sequence/consequence kinda narrative? The only way to achieve herd immunity is by vaccination, and vaccination is the only way to achieve herd immunity? Also our so-called 'recovery plan' revolves around herd immunity concept?
You cannot reduce transmission and you can only limit infection. Am I right, Doctor?
Isn’t this obvious....any vaccine is a good vaccine
