KUCHING: Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry enforcement personnel have seized 14 boxes of"ghost smoke" candy from a shop on Jalan Tawi Sli here.
Mohd Hanizam Kechik, the ministry's deputy director for Sarawak, said the goods were seized during an inspection on Wednesday and are worth about RM110. "Further investigations will be carried out to see if any offences were committed under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 or the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011," he said in a statement on Wednesday .
Hanizam said the ministry was inspecting business premises for the candy after a video went viral showing children consuming it and exhaling smoke, as if they were smoking cigarettes."We advise traders not to sell this product. We also welcome assistance from the public to inform us of any shops that sell it so quick action can be taken," he added.
