Speaking to the media after the Jelajah Selangor officiation and prize giving ceremony Sunday , Amirudin said the meeting had taken place while Dr Xavier Jayakumar Arulanandam was still Water, Land and Natural Resources minister before the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government in February 2020.
"A decision was made then to raise water tariffs so that the management of this resource can remain sustainable," he said. Amirudin was answering to a jibe from former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak that the Selangor government had reneged on its promise for free water after increasing water tariffs for commercial use.
