: The move not to increase electricity tariffs, which would affect more than nine million domestic consumers in the country, shows that the government’s main focus is on the welfare of the people, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa.

He said it was not an easy decision by the government as it meant the government having to continue to subside the cost of electricity. Also present were Malaysian National News Agency chief executive officer Datuk Mokhtar Hussain and Malaysia Broadcasting director-general Datuk Che Roslan Che Daud. “We have to look at various angles, the shareholders, the sustainability of TNB itself, and after a lengthy discussions, the cabinet under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob opined that the tariff cannot be increased,“ he added.
