DBKL to install 5,000 CCTV cameras across city | The Malaysian Insight

Federal Territories Minister Shahidan Kassim says the new integrated camera network will be able to perform a variety of smart functions from detecting potholes to traffic management and enforcement. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, October 15, 2021.

KUALA Lumpur City Hall will expand the integrated transportation management across the city with the installations of 5,000 closed-circuit television cameras with artificial intelligence features. Federal Territories Minister Shahidan Kassim said 3,000 cameras with AI functions had been installed for smart traffic system management, crime monitoring, community monitoring and monitoring DBKL assets.

Wonder who will benefit this, and who will maintain and monitor these cctv? Installing these cctvs without a proper plan will only end up to be another waste of money. Malaysia Boleh.

This means more money for both sides.....

Don't install MadeInChina brand Hikvision, Huawei and few more, that's proven to steal privacy and data. Many more brands were blocked by US for such violation.

Berapa harga satu CCTV? Lubang jalanraya pun belum tampal within 24 hours now wanna pasang 5,000 CCTV? Pasang senang tapi maintenance, monitoring & making this a useful project to KL folks will be another big issue? What is the overall plan for this CCTV project? Sustainable?🤔🤷
