PETALING JAYA: Virtual criminal appeal hearings will begin at the Federal Court, Appellate Courts and High Courts nationwide via video-conferencing from Monday , says the Federal Court’s Chief Registrar’s office.

“This type of virtual criminal appeal hearing proceedings will only be used for prisoners who are represented by lawyers or unrepresented and are currently undergoing their sentence in prisons. “On March 1 , a criminal appeal case will be heard by the Appeal Court of Putrajaya on the appeal against conviction and sentencing under Section 395 of the Penal Code. This appeal will be heard via video conferencing and will be followed by the appelor from the Kajang Prison, ” it said on Sunday .
