SEREMBAN: The crime index in Negri Sembilan in the first 11 months of this year has shown a decline in crimes reported compared to the previous year, says state police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop.

He said only 1,698 cases were reported during the period as against 2,213 for the same period of 2020, a decline of more than 23%."However, there was a slight increase in some crimes such as causing hurt and murder, where three more cases were reported compared to the same period last year," he said adding that vehicle theft had also reduced by 43%.

"Crime has become a hot topic of discussion among the people and some may think that the police are not doing to ensure their safety. He said as of Dec 2020, 2,995 petrol stations nationwide had signed up for the programme with Petron alone having 722. On a separate matter, DCP Mohamad said the police had yet to get a post mortem report on a four-month-old baby girl who reportedly died while under the care of her babysitter on Tuesday .The mother of the deceased lodged a report after her baby was pronounced dead at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital.
